Privacy & Photos: solved!

Some years ago, I mean so many years ago, it was an honor to be photographed on the street. Today it is a very big problem! I mean in Italy ( I don’t know in other countries, but I think it’s the same). There is the hateful, detestable, damnable privacy! Nobody wants to be photographed!! But why? Where is the problem? I mean, if you’re not committing a crime…or you are not whit your ..ehm.. lover ūüôā But anyway, you are in a public place, a street, where everyone can see you..

Some time ago, during my photo exhibition, a man saw the following¬†picture…

..and he said me: “hey, have you got the photo release? Without it you cannot expose this picture! I know this woman!”… Acc! of course I haven’t!! ūüôā ūüôā But¬†my answer was¬†very prompt: “I don’t need it, this woman is my aunt!” ( very ready¬†lie )¬†and I continued: “You are not the first person that believes to recognize this woman…it seems that my aunt¬†has a¬†twin!”.

Another man saw the following picture:

He recognized himself in the photo! He¬†was the man with the white hair. He said nothing to me…but the next day he came again with his friends…He was very happy to be in the exhibition!!! The exception confirming the rule!

But to solve the privacy problem…we can start to photograph the fashion dummies!!! There is no need of the photo release!! And we can obtain very interesting ( and different ) Street-photos! ūüôā ūüôā

In my little “portfolio”¬†there the¬†dummy in the showroom and at its back there¬†is always a detail of the city ( church,¬†building,¬†palace, wall, window ).¬†¬†The fashion dummies in their city ūüôā

Unhappy Luna Park

I don’t like to take photos in a “standard way”: it’s very easy to go photograph the sea during the summer, while it’s more difficult do it in winter ( and not in Black&White … uuufffff such a banality!! I like B&W but the sea during winter in black&White is a very commonplace.¬†¬†Following this “philosophy” some years ago I decided to take photos in a desert Luna Park during a rainy day

Geometric Street photography

Hello,¬†yestarday I was looking at an historical palace because there was on its wall an intersting shadow, when I saw a girl that was walking along that wall…I noticed that there was an intersting geometric similitude¬†between the street-lamp’s shadow and the girl’s trolley…so I started to take (a lot of ) photos. Please see here my little photographic story…and the final result.

Filters or not Filters? That is the question

Filters or not Filters, that is the question:
Whether ’tis Nobler in the mind to suffer
The Aperture and Shutter Speed of outrageous Fortune,
Or to take Filters against an Exposure Settings of troubles,
And by opposing end them: a risk to not take a photo…

Below a JPEG directly from my Olympus OMD-EM5 camera:

One picture is not “better” than the other one It only dependes on what you want to achieve: an artistic picture? An easy “wow” ūüôā .. or ..¬†a “normal” typical autumn day, a good¬†colourful¬†( but standard ) image of¬†your city? It’s up to you! Today there are¬†Filters on all cameras…so why don’t use them?
